A Louisiana lawsuit could hinder telehealth abortion nationwide

A hearing is set for Tuesday in a federal lawsuit led by Louisiana seeking to further restrict access to mifepristone by asking the courts to stop abortion pills from being mailed across the country. The Department of Justice has argued plaintiffs lack standing to bring the case and asked the judge to halt legal proceedings until the Food and Drug Administration wraps up a review of the medication.

Landry wants Trump admin to expand DEI probe into Louisiana colleges

Gov. Jeff Landry has formally requested the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights to widen the inquiry it announced earlier this month into the Louisiana Board of Regents, which oversees higher education in the state. Now Landry is asking the Trump administration to scrutinize all state colleges and universities to determine if any have engaged in diversity, equity and inclusion practices contrary to federal law or policy.

Amazon pledges to limit water use, pay for power at its $12B NW Louisiana data centers

Confetti and fireworks lit up the inside of the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium Monday afternoon as Gov. Jeff Landry unveiled Amazon as the company behind the construction of three new data centers coming to Northwest Louisiana. The company said it plans to invest more than $12 billion into three interconnected campuses across the region, promising to pay for its electricity and limit its water use while also investing in local infrastructure.

Ralph Abraham steps down from CDC post he just took in January

Dr. Ralph Abraham has stepped down as principal deputy director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention “to address unforeseen family obligations,” the agency said. His appointment is among several moves the Trump administration has made in its overhaul of the CDC, which U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has placed in the crosshairs of his “Make America Healthy Again” movement, forcing out officials who challenged his views on vaccines that steered away from scientific consensus.
