Cassidy flips as US Senate votes to limit Trump war in Iran

After voting no seven times, U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy flipped and cast the deciding vote to advance a War Powers Resolution to rein in President Donald Trump’s war in Iran without authorization from Congress. Cassidy’s vote to advance the resolution came just three days following a loss in the Louisiana GOP primary in which Trump backed challenger U.S. Rep. Julia Letlow.

NAACP, Black Caucus urge college sports boycott in the South over voting rights

Outside the U.S. Capitol, members of the Congressional Black Caucus rallied behind the NAACP’s call for Black athletes and fans to withhold “athletic and financial support from public universities in states that have moved to limit, weaken, or erase Black voting representation” following the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling in Louisiana v. Callais.

New Orleans neighbors care for pets left behind during immigration crackdown
