Locals in Louisiana might get to vote to remove or add fluoride to their water

A new effort to remove fluoride from public drinking water supplies in Louisiana would allow local residents to vote on the matter, though dental professionals say it would be a step backwards in health care.

Abortion bans led to more preterm births among Black women, study finds

Louisiana schools could get more money for mandated costs

Louisiana’s top education official is recommending that lawmakers approve a recurring increase in school funding. Under the proposal, public schools would receive $47 more per student — almost a 50% bump — to pay for employee health insurance, retirement contributions, fuel and other specific costs. If approved, it would be the first increase since 2008.

Orleans sheriff, feds face off in court over jail immigration policy
