President Donald Trump has resumed his assault on NATO this week at its summit in Turkey, including a continued push for outright U.S. control of Greenland. Ahead of his trip, Trump’s special envoy to the Danish territory, Gov. Jeff Landry, provided a list of priorities to the president for a “stronger American presence” there. He shared them in a social media post earlier this week.

Just a few months ago, Estefanía Aultman was thinking about moving her family away from Ascension Parish, worried that a major industrial plant coming to the neighborhood could put their health at risk. But on June 30, Pennsylvania-based Air Products and Chemicals canceled its plans to build out the world’s largest carbon sequestration and storage project in the world, dubbed the Louisiana Clean Energy Complex.

Louisiana lawmakers voted this week to cancel a special session scheduled this month to potentially override a handful of vetoes Gov. Jeff Landry issued. There wasn’t any expectation that lawmakers would go forward with an override session this year, but a vote is required annually to call it off.
