Community colleges face faculty poaching from new industry

Major companies investing in Louisiana are looking to the state’s community and technical colleges to supply their workforce, and they are also hiring the instructors who teach there, the school system’s leader said this week.

UL System list team-level revenue sharing budgets despite new law

Team-level payout details for four UL System sports programs, money for which comes from revenue generated on each campus, were accidentally included in documents posted online for last month’s University of Louisiana Board of Supervisors meeting. A new state law allows universities to shield how much they pay to individual athletes and each athletic team from public view.

OMV upgrades driver’s license system. Governor predicts shorter wait times.

The state Office of Motor Vehicles replaced its decades-old system with a new platform OMV locations were closed statewide last week to give the agency time to switch to the new system. Gov. Jeff Landry said the new software is going to “cut hours off of getting your driver’s license.”

Gov. Landry’s executive order waives some limits on off-road diesel use

Farmers and timber harvesters can use off-road diesel fuel for all purposes for the next 30 days under an executive order Gov. Jeff Landry issued Wednesday. The governor cited soaring prices for diesel fuel as the reason behind his action. He’s also called on the Trump administration and Congress to halt all diesel exports for 90 days to address the high costs.
